FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

Jn 10:11-18
Jesus said:
"I am the good shepherd. A good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. A hired man, who is not a shepherd and whose sheep are not his own, sees a wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away, and the wolf catches and scatters them. This is because he works for pay and has no concern for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I will lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. These also I must lead, and they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd. This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down on my own. I have power to lay it down, and power to take it up again. This command I have received from my Father."

OBITUARIES
Adela Demianiuk
January 09, 1925 - May 06, 2017

Adela Demianiuk, 92, entered peacefully into eternal life at her home in Manville on May 6, 2017. Born in Karczmiska, Pulawy Lubelska, Poland on January 9, 1925, she is the daughter of the late Antonina and Konstanty Pilat. During WWII she was made to work in a forced labor camp until her liberation by American Armed Forces. She continued to reside in Kitlingen, a DP camp in Germany, from 1945-1949, where her son Bogdan was born. Unable to immigrate to the US, the family obtained passage to Brazil, where they had to work in the interior for one year with indigenous people as repayment for the trip. She moved to Sao Paulo, where her daughter Helena was born, and was finally able to immigrate to Manville in 1960. Adela was always a warm hearted person that never turned anyone away from her door without an invitation to a hardy meal; she could always make something from nothing. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, and tending to her garden. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville and a member of the Rosary Society, where she spent many a day making pierogies and socializing. Besides being a homemaker, to offset living costs, she worked as a house keeper for many years. Adela was predeceased by her beloved husband Dmytro Demianiuk in 2010 and two brothers and a sister; she leaves behind her loving children Bogdan and Helena. She will be deeply missed by cherished grandsons Kevin Coughlin and Michael Demianiuk, his wife Anne, and great grandchildren Sabine and Natasha. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews in Poland and Australia. PRAYER INTENTIONS OF THE HOLY FATHER ENTRUSTED TO THE APOSTLESHIP OF PRAYER FOR THE YEAR 2017

APRIL

Young People.
That young people may respond generously to their vocations and seriously consider offering themselves to God in the priesthood or consecrated life.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

HAPPY EASTER dear Friends!
With our celebration of Easter, we proclaim “Christ is risen,” and call each other and the world to renew our hope. That call to hope is actually a very daring invitation. Who are we, then, to proclaim hope? How do we dare to say that there is a reason for hope? Our response is simple, and our conviction is firm. We have come to know Jesus, the Risen Christ. We have come to know Jesus in his word and in his sacraments. We have known him in each other, in the faces of those whom we love and in the faces of the poor and marginalized. Our knowledge of him has brought us before his cross on which he destroyed sin and death. Our knowledge of him has brought us to stand before him as the Risen One who breathes the new life of the Spirit into those who believe in him.
We dare to hope, because the eternal Word of God dared to take our flesh and passed through death to new and glorious life. He opened the way for us to embrace eternal life. And so we dare to hope and, even more, dare to share that hope with a wounded struggling world.
Let us continue to grow in love for the Lord every day and pray for one another as we together journey to an ever deeper faith and reawaken faith in those whose faith is in slumber.  May our faith and confidence in the Risen Christ will bless this world with the renewed hope that it desperately needs.
In the Risen Lord Jesus,

Our God is a God of justice, but also a God of mercy. Through the blood of Jesus, God's mercy is available to us now. It is up to us to decide to accept it. We don't want to be camping out in "Sin Forest" when judgment time comes.
